Event Name: Tacos & Tradition
Date & Time: Saturday, June 13, 2026 | 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Monogram Food Smith River Sports Complex - 1000 Irisburg Rd, Axton, VA 24054
Description: A culturally immersive food event where authentic tacos will be the primary focus. Food vendors selling tacos can compete for a best tacos award. Food vendors can sell their full menu if they wish to do so. Food vendors from different Latin American countries are eligible to register as a food vendor. If you are not a food vendor, skip to the "Other Vendors" section. A kid's zone, music, and performances will be offered.
Tacos No. 1 Competition:
There are two ways to win:
1. People's Choice: Guests will vote for the establishment with the best tacos between 11:00 am and 3:30 pm.
2. Judge's Choice: 5 judges will vote for the establishment with the best tacos. Judges must submit their vote by 3:30 pm.
Food vendors that would like to enter the "Tacos No. 1" competition must indicate on this form they are going to compete.
To make it affordable for our guests, individual tacos of any kind must be sold at $3.00 (plus tax). Note: You can still sell regular orders of tacos, but there must be an option for guests to purchase individual tacos from your selection for the price mentioned above. Example: You join the competition, so you have to sell individual tacos of any kind (pastor, birria, etc.) for $3 plus tax, but you can also sell plates of tacos (or other food) as you normally do. You cannot compete if you do not sell individual tacos.
Other vendors:
You are a business vendor if you sell merchandise or services the day of the event or if you promote your business through dialogue or showcase.
If you are nonprofit and would like to participate, please contact Eli Salgado at eventsbyeli.co@gmail.com. A separate registration form will be required for nonprofits. Space is limited and is first come first served. Nonprofits will not be charged a fee.
Fees:
All food vendors will be charged a non-refundable vendor participant fee of $200. Whether it is a 10 x 10, 20 x 20, or Food Truck, the price is non-negotiable.
Vendors selling only non-alcoholic beverages (no food) will pay $100 no matter the space size.
All other vendors will pay $50 for a 10 x 10 space or $75 for a 20 x 20 space.
Vendor fees are only refundable if the event is cancelled.
Guidelines:
Vendors will be allowed to begin set up at 9:00 am and must leave the grounds by 6:00 pm.
Vendors are responsible for disposing of their trash. Note: Trash cans for guests will be located throughout the venue which will be collected by the venue throughout the day.
Vendors arriving after 10:45 will not be allowed to set up.
Food vendors who have a food establishment license must have the license displayed at the event.
Food vendors who do not have a food establishment license, must submit an application for a Temporary Food Establishment Permit with the Martinsville-Henry County Department of Health 10 days before the event. Note: Failure to do so will prevent you from participating in the event. Vendor fee is non-refundable. Information and application can be found on this webpage: https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/environmental-health/food-safety-in-virginia/tfe/
Vendors are responsible for collecting tax. Tax-/Financial-related questions must be directed toward those experts as we are not in the business of financial advice or guidance.
Vendors are responsible for bringing their own tents, chairs, generator and other supplies.
Vendors should be prepared to set up their own equipment without assistance from the venue or event organizer.
Vendors will be randomly placed in their appropriate area without special/preferred treatment unless it is a health-related accommodation request. Such accommodation must be made 3 days prior to the event.
Vendors should report their absence in a timely manner. Note: vendor fees are non-refundable unless event organizer cancels the event.
We are working hard to find an indoor venue that will serve as a back-up in case of inclement weather. This will be announced as soon as possible. Note: This prevents cancelling or postponing the event (and avoids food vendors from losing investments).
Event Organizer and Venue are not responsible for damaged or stolen property.
